Caucasian Knot: “Because of the imposed restrictions, the ‘Smart Voting’ strategy failed to find its broad application at elections in regions of Southern Russia; however, the candidates for the Volgograd Regional Duma suggested by the ‘Smart Voting’ won second places in many constituencies; one of them has won, supporters of Alexei Navalny have stated.”

RFE/Radio Liberty: “Police have violently dispersed a protest and detained two men in the capital of Russia’s Siberian region of Buryatia. Local lawmaker Bair Tsyrenov of the Communist Party and activist Dmitry Bairov were detained on September 10 after about a dozen protesters on the central square held a series of single-person pickets to challenge September 8 mayoral election results and to demand the release of two activists who were being held after a protest the day before.”

Interfax: “Israel will be represented at a high level at the 75th anniversary of the Victory in WWII celebrations in Moscow on May 9, 2020, Israeli Ambassador to Russia Gary Koren said.”
